This group is a great idea. I have a 7-year old female Akita named Katrina. She's the momma bear of my pack. I've had her since she was 12 weeks old and she's traveled all around the world with me. But we're both happily settled in Charlotte now with my two other dogs.

Hi There,

I think this club is a great idea. We had a female Akita named Mischa and she loved me and my sister to death!!! They are so loyal and love 'their' people. They are also VERY pretty!

Hay Shelly... Thanks for creating this group. My little Suki grew up with my Male American Akita, Koyo, but when I was divorced, the "kids" got seperated. Suki is mostly Japanese Akita, but not as fine boned and plays well with other dogs because I socialized her very well when she was young, but she really misses playing with her brother. I would LOVE to get back into obediance training again. Kudo's to you!

Hey there, Shelly. I'm Whitney. My mother owns a male Akita named Triad. He's a beautiful Akita, but a little on the small side. He's just what you've described. They are wonderful dogs and the puppies are fantastic little furballs. They are VERY intelligent and without the proper training and keeping them occupied, they can definitely become terrors. Good luck with the training.

My name is Shelly, I live in Plaza-Midwood area with my male American Akita and my female Mini Schnauzer. I have learned so much from being an Akita owner. They are such incredible animals. The Akita is regal, proud, brave, extremely intelligent, loving and loyal. I can’t imagine my life without him in it!
I am currently taking classes to become a certified dog trainer/ obedience instructor. My goal is to specialize in dogs that can be a “handful”. Hoping to help teach dogs and their owners how to have the best possible relationship with one another, and the environment in which they live.
